diversification and opportunistic events. Capital usage is determined using Bell Curve’s proprietary valuation models and execution technology.


Derek Wang

Founder, CEO

Derek Wang (Founder, CEO) has over 15 years of experiences in option trading and quantitative research. Derek worked at Peak6 (2001), Ronin Capital (2005), and Capstone Investments (2008), some of the leading firms in the option industry. Derek was co-founder of PyraMed (1992) and CTO of Xlibris (2000). Derek has a PhD in Physics from University of Pennsylvania (1992), and earned his BS in Physics from University of Science and Technology of China. Derek writes regularly about the options and derivatives industry and gave presentations in several industrial or educational events.


Chris Gersch

Director of Strategy

Christopher Gersch, is the Director of Strategy at Bell Curve Capital. Gersch joined Bell Curve Capital in early 2015 after serving as the Director of Portfolio Management, a Chicago based derivative hedge fund, since 2010. Gersch can often be seen as an expert guest speaker on currency and commodities products for CNBC, Bloomberg, BNN, CNN and Fox Business News. Gersch is also an Associate Professor in The University of Chicago’s Masters in Financial Mathematics Program.

Gersch has 12 years of trading experience that began with the Hanley Group in the Soy Bean Options pit at the Chicago Board of Trade in 2003, which led him to become Head Trader of Spike Trading’s equity trading division in 2004. Gersch brought Spike’s machine learning tools and filters to Merrill Lynch’s CBOE trading floor operations in 2006. He then went on to found Chicago Global Capital, LLC, a Commodity Trading Advisor Firm specializing in managed currency products. Complementing this range of business development experiences, Gersch has developed algorithmic trading systems utilizing European & US Treasury Bond Markets, Equity, Equity Option, Commodity Option, Currency Future and Spot Currency markets. He has passed the FINRA Series 3, 7, 24, 55, 63 and 65 exams. Gersch graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Aerospace from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, and is a licensed multi-engine commercial pilot.


Bronson Plocus

Senior Portfolio

Bronson Plocus has over 14 years industry experience in volatility trading, research, and sales. As a portfolio manager and proprietary trader, he has implemented a variety of quantitative volatility trading strategies and has built quantitative tools for risk management control. Bronson began his career as an equity options market maker, covering index, ETF, and single-stock options. Bronson is known as a respected educator on options theory and trading and has several years advising industry participants on volatility and derivative risk management. He has been regularly published by media outlets regarding markets conditions and trading opportunities. Prior to joining Bell Curve Capital, Bronson held positions at Mako Global Derivatives, Capstone, AGS Specialists, Commerzbank AG, and Weeden and Co. Bronson holds dual degrees from Lehigh University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Finance, and is a candidate in the CFA and CMT Programs.


Judith Tyson

Financial Controller

Judith Tyson, CPA, CFE has 20 years of extensive Controller Services and Sarbanes-Oxley experience. She has served over 50 clients as an independent consultant since 2002. Her clients range from small private companies to billion dollar publicly traded companies. Prior to going out on her own, she was US Accounts Officer for PA Consulting Group in Washington, DC. Her responsibilities included managing the financial integration of a $150M acquisition, supervising staff, formulating and maintaining accounting policies and internal control procedures and performing month end close and balance sheet reconciliations. She also worked for Campbell Soup Company as an Internal Audit Senior, where she traveled extensively in the US and Mexico. She began her career as a Staff Accountant for KPMG.

Judith Tyson received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She has had an active CPA license in Pennsylvania since 2000, she is a Certified Fraud Examiner since 2013 and she is a member of both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Philadelphia Chapter of Fraud Examiners.


Han Mei

Quantitative Analyst

Han Mei has more than 8 years of trading experience. Prior to joining Bell Curve Capital in 2015, Han was a trader in Patak Trading Partners in Chicago, trading U.S. commodities futures, like crude oil, gold and copper. Han received a BA in Chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China in 2009 and an MA in Chemical Engineering from University of Rochester in 2011.
